More from "What 518 means to me..."
12-16-2019
"Three members of my family spend or have spent considerable time at 518 West Seneca St. We are members of Al-anon, AA, and NA. Our teen-aged son's problems with addiction first brought me to Al-anon meetings at 518. Later, my son and husband both attended meetings at the building for their recovery from drugs and alcohol. Meetings at 518 have made a huge impact on the well-being of our family. When addiction impacts a family, it is often necessary to rebuild social networks from the ground up, as it was for us. I am very grateful to Ithaca Community Recovery for providing a place for that to happen."
2nd Week Winner for the Random Participant Prize

This week's random participant winner is Mike Barry! Congratulations Mike, you won a $50 gift card to Moosewood Restaurant!
Why 518 matters to me...
12-09-2019
"518 matters to me. I'm a double-winner; that means I am an alcoholic AND my life has been affected by another person's drinking. I go to 518 several times a week for AA and Al-Anon meetings. Having a building dedicated to recovery meetings means I can always find a meeting, no matter what my schedule. It means I know that everyone there is there for the same reason: recovery. An enormous part of recovery is knowing that you aren't alone, that there are others who have gone through what you're going through. 518 brings all those people together. I come away with a soothed spirit and a sense of hope after every meeting. Every Single Meeting."

What 518 means to us!
11-30-2019
Ithaca Community Recovery is affectionately know as just 518. I while back I asked some folks what 518 means to them. I'd like share some of their responses. I going to start with one of my favorites.
"One of the people who was part of the group back in 2000 who were working hard to get the place usable told me that the very first time he came into the building he felt the spirit there. He went on to say that the building started out as an orphanage and later was a sanctuary and that today it continues to fulfill both functions. It provides a home for people who are lost and a place for people to keep in touch with a higher power."
Please join us in supporting 518 by getting involved in our annual fundraiser, the Ithaca Chill Challenge.
